We often give people facts and aggregated data, but this often isn’t enough to change minds. Personalization and the telling of individual’s stories with details often suddenly highlights your point with more power.

Version 1: The health care system routinely acts upon the false belief that Black people can tolerate more pain than white people.

Version 2: Last week, highlighting the national discrepancy in how Black people are routinely given worse care in the health care system, Dr. Susan Moore is left for seven hours without pain treatment, is denied further doses of remdesivir for her advancing COVID case, and is pushed by her doctor to be discharged despite pleading her case for further treatment.

Both versions are true, but which one inspires you to actually do something about it?

Where might you be able to better use personalization and individual stories to make more of a difference?
